Kiambu governor William Kabogo has hit out at Cord leader Raila Odinga over his claims that Jubilee government is funding 'secret' projects.
Kabogo says that Raila has run out of what to talk about and wants to engage the government in endless propaganda.
Speaking on Tuesday during a meet the people tour in Kabete constituency, Kabogo said that Raila has nothing to tell Kenyans.
The Kiambu governor said that Raila was in government when the construction of the Northern Collector Tunnel project was being mooted.
“He (Raila) was in government when the project was being mooted and it is unfair for him to now accuse the Jubilee government of secretively funding the project,” said the Kiambu governor.
Kabogo said that Raila is an ‘enemy’ of development adding that Kenyans are tired of his antics.
The Sh6.8 Billion project being funded by the World Bank and the government seeks to divert water from sources in Aberdares to Thika’s Ndakaini dam for use in Nairobi.
On Monday, Raila accused the Jubilee government of secretively funding the project.
Raila claimed that project that is ongoing has long-term environmental effects.
The Cord leader claimed that the project will turn Murang’a, Garissa, Ukambani and Tana Delta regions into deserts after five years of its completion.
Murang’a governor Mwangi Wa Iria has also dismissed Raila’s claims saying that environment assessments were done before the commencement of the project.
Wa Iria accused Raila of playing politics with the project adding that Central leaders will not allow him to spread propaganda on government projects.
“Raila wants to achieve political mileage by politicising government projects and we will not allow him to do that,” said Wa Iria on Tuesday as quoted by the Star.
Raila asked the government to stop the project saying that it portends more harm than good for Kenyans.
