Governor William Kabogo has criticized Cord leader Raila Odinga’s threat to call for street demonstrations over the alleged Sh5.2 Billion Afya House scam.
The governor says that Cord’s threat for demonstrations will not help solve anything but will only create tension in the country.
Kabogo now wants the opposition leader to support the Uhuru Kenyatta government to tame graft.
“Raila’s threat for street demonstrations over the alleged Afya House scam will not be of help, what the opposition needs to do is support the Uhuru government in taming graft,” he said in Kabete during a meet the people tour on Monday.
Kabogo said that Uhuru needs the support of every stakeholder to deal with the vice that threatens to destabilize his government.
On Saturday, Cord leader Raila Odinga threatened that the opposition will lead demonstrations across the country if the Uhuru Kenyatta government will not take action against perpetrators of the alleged Sh5 Billion Afya House Scam.
Raila claimed that Jubilee administration has totally failed in taming corruption.
The Cord leader also asked President Kenyatta to resign over rampant graft in his government.
On Monday, Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama confirmed that Cord will organize for demonstrations if people named in the Afya House scam are not arrested.
Muthama who addressed journalists at his office in Nairobi said that they will not allow the Jubilee government to continue looting taxpayer’s money.
A section of activist groups have also threatened to hold demonstrations this week over the Mafia House scam.
University of Nairobi (UoN) student leader Babu Owino on Monday also said that he will rally varsity students to demonstrate at Afya House over the alleged Sh5 Billion Afya House scam.
This comes as pressure continues to pile for Health CS Cleophas Mailu and his Principal Secretary Nicholas Muraguri to resign over the Afya House scam.
