Kiambu residents have been urged to be cautious of greedy politicians as they cast their votes in the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking during a meet-the-people tour at Gatong'ora Ward in Ruiru Sub-county on Monday, Kiambu Governor William Kabogo told residents to be wary of politicians who seek public office to enrich themselves.

“Some people seek political seats because they want to be rich, but I seek it to transform this county to be a role model to other counties in this great country,” said Kabogo. “The governor seat needs someone who is stable financially, not a person who wants to get wealthy overnight through looting public resources. Am a man of means who does not need to steal from you.”

While noting some development projects he has initiated since he took office four years ago, Kabogo said his goal was to bring services closer to the people.

“We have been with you and you have witnessed what we have done and what we are doing. My vision is to transform this county so that every resident will enjoy living in it,” he said.

A poll that was released last week showed that Kabogo would be easily re-elected for a second term.

The findings by TIFA showed him with a commanding lead of 46 per cent ahead of his closest rival Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu at 33 per cent.
