Kiambu governor William Kabogo has dismissed claims that he could be DP William Ruto’s running mate in 2022 presidential elections.
Ruto has never hid his intentions to go for the top office and is said to have selected his preferred line up ahead of the elections.
But in yet other unprecedented remarks, Kabogo, a Ruto ally cum foe, has dismissed possibility of deputizing Ruto in future.
“I cannot be his running mate. He is also at liberty to be my running mate and that is my stand,” he said in response to his political future.
Kabogo added: “We all aim high and if he intends to pick me, I am not ready to play second fiddle to anyone and that is my stand.”
Rivalry between the two leaders has intensified din the recent past with Kabogo accusing Ruto of shortchanging him during Jubilee nominations.
During the nomination, Kabogo who is defending his seat as an Independent, lost to Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu.
