Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has revealed that he can't rebuild Thika's madaraka market, which was destroyed by arsonists last year, as there is a court order restraining county government.
The court order was obtained by Thika Town MP Alice Ng'ang'a and her counterpart Hon. Ferdinand Waititu of Kabete.
"I obtained Sh800 million from World Bank to reconstruct this market and others in the county, but there is a court order restraining the government from carrying out any activity in the market," said Kabogo, after a long silence since the market was razed.
Kabogo also condemned the arsonists who destroyed Kamenu MCA Elizabeth Muthoni's house.
"The act of torching down Muthoni's house was a satanic act and those who did it may escape from law but God will judge them," added Kabogo.
Muthoni's house was burnt down the same night the market was destroyed.
