Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has said the county will not pay December salaries to striking doctors.
Kabogo said the medics will go without pay as they had not dispatched their services as required.
“We are not going to pay people who have not worked. We have tried to urge them to resume their duties as negotiations go on but they have refused. They should not expect any salary," he said.
Kabogo said the decision to withhold the salaries was based on a resolution by the Council of Governors to take action against the striking medics.
He accused the doctors in Kiambu of not being genuine in their strike as the county had at all times addressed their grievances.
"For the past three years there has been no strike in Kiambu as we had made a deal with the doctors that included promotions and salary increments," said Kabogo.
Doctors in the whole country downed their tools on December 5 paralysing operations in public hospitals.
