Kiambu county governor William Kabogo has lauded Kiandutu slums residents for maintaining cleanliness and taming criminal activity in the area.
Kabogo said that the slum has been on the limelight with criminal activity and poor living condition which was a threat to their health life especially to children.
He said that Kiandutu has immensely reduced the crime activity where at the past youths used to terrorize residents’ women being the most vulnerable.
The county boss who was speaking on Thursday in Kiandutu slums when he met the Slum Dwellers Federation (SDF) officers hailed Kiambu county women rep Annah Nyokabi for cleaning the area terming her as the good leader Kiambu aspires to have many like her.
He said that Kiandutu has been in the past the dirtiest location in Kiambu county and thanks to Muheshimiwa who mobilized youths to clean the area.
“The last time I was in Kiandutu, it was in poor condition but thanks to Madam Nyokabi in partnership with the county government where the place is as clean as brand new that it looks like a tourist attraction,” ridiculed Kabogo
The governor has called on residents neither to tire nor influenced by leaders who seek political mileage but work to make Kiandutu and Kiambu a better place to be.
He has however promised to upgrade slum estates in Kiambu and as well rename them and deploy security agencies in the area to maintain peace and order.
Kabogo further hailed the new OCPD in Thika Francis Muthamia promising him support with his team to work in the area.
