Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has lauded retired Chief Justice Wily Mutunga for transforming the judicial sector.
Kabogo, while presiding over the inauguration of the Kiambu High Court on Monday said that Mutunga had overseen major reforms in Judiciary.
The Governor said that under the leadership of Mutunga, more courts had been established reducing the case backlogs and quickening access to justice.
“The leadership and stewardship of the retired CJ Willy Mutunga is commendable and has brought sanity to the Judiciary,” said Kabogo.
He further stated that access to justice was now real to many Kenyans.
“We have seen many cases that had backlogged being completed under the leadership of Mutunga and want to hope that his successor will ensure that access to justice is not interfered with.
The governor said his government will work with the Judiciary to ensure that locals get access to justice..
CJ Mutunga retired last week after five years of service in the judiciary.
Various leaders among them Busia Senator Amos Wako have commended the CJ for his role in transforming the judiciary.
