Governor William Kabogo is expected to launch his re-election campaign at Thika Stadium tomorrow (Saturday).

According to sources, Kabogo has put in place a strategic campaign team to steer his re-election bid.

The flamboyant governor says that he is not taking any chance in his re-election bid.

Kabogo faces stiff competition from Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu who has vowed to send him home. The two politicians (Kabogo and Waititu) are seeking Jubilee Party ticket to contest for the top seat.

Kabogo has exuded confidence clinching JP ticket but analysts say that he might get a shocker from his rival Ferdinand Waititu.

Last month Waititu's bid received a boost after four aspirants who had declared an interest to unseat Kabogo decided to back him (Waititu).

The four David Gakuyo, James Nyoro, John Mugwe and businesswoman Njoki Gathendu vowed to campaign for Waititu’s bid in efforts to send Kabogo packing.

In an agreement, the politicians agreed that Waititu to contest for the governor seat deputised by Dr James Nyoro.

A recent survey by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA) showed that Kabogo enjoys 45 per cent of locals support compared to Waititu’s 33 per cent.

Speaking during a tour of Kiambu county on Wednesday President Uhuru Kenyatta said that he will not endorse Kabogo or Waititu for the Kiambu governor seat.

Uhuru said that Kiambu people will decide on who to pick between Kabogo and ‘BabaYao’ during JP nominations which he assured will be free and fair.

Kiambu county JP nominations are among those to watch with both Waititu and Kabogo considered as close allies of President Kenyatta.
