Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo has offered to give a space for the Judiciary to establish a high court in Thika.
This is after the congestion that has been experienced for a while in the Murang’a High Court and long working hours by the magistrates and judges.
Speaking in Thika town when he opened a county court, Kabogo said there has also been accumulation of cases in Thika law courts, necessitating the need to open a county court to deal with petty offenders in the county.
Kabogo insisted that the county will not interfere with the working or the cases dealt with by the county court so as to ensure it remains independent with transparency and accountability.
This comes after a magistrate court was established in Gatundu town to serve the whole of the sub-county as the offenders were being arraigned in Thika and Murang’a courts.
The court government of Kiambu has offered a Sh1 million worth furniture to the Gatundu courts.
The governor added that the justice will now be intense and it will increase the number of investors in the county as Thika will now be law enforcement region.
“Investors will have no fear to work within Kiambu County especially Thika town knowing that they will get justice faster and within their reach in case they become victims of malicious fraud in their business enterprise,” Kabogo assured.
Thika law courts chief magistrate Stephen Mbungi who was in the same meeting said that the county court will increase revenue to both the county government and the Judiciary as well.
He added that Thika being the most active and very busy station, judicial officers will now concentrate on their cases as they will increase the working time in order to serve the public.
Governor Kabogo has vowed to partner with the Judiciary to ensure by the end of the financial year a High court is introduced in Thika.
