Kiambu County governor William Kabogo has called on all the MCAs to disband the last former Ward Bursary Fund Committees and reform them to ensure there is confidence among the public in the disbursement of the funds.
Kabogo said that there are a lot of claims that the committee gave bursaries funds to their friends and relatives while others were corrupted and gave it to the non-vetted people.
Kabogo, who was speaking in Kiambu town offices when he unveiled the county bursary fund programme on Thursday, said that the public needs to be considered when dealing with their development funds and they should be given equal priority.
He added that his aim and that of his leadership is to see that the public have confidence in his government and to bring them development adding that that will only be achieved equality is exercised.
The need to form Ward Bursary Committees was brought about by the Witeithie residents whom last year took to the streets after some non-vetted persons were given the bursaries among them pupils and students from private schools that are said to be from well-off families.
The governor has however cautioned the MCAs against politicking with the whole issue of Bursary Funds saying that the Fund is not anybody’s personal money.
The governor launched the Sh150 Million worth bursaries to be disbursed in the whole county.
