The Kiambu County government has partnered with Kenya Urban Road Authority (Kura) in rehabilitation of roads in Thika sub-county, Governor William Kabogo has said.
Kabogo said the partnership will enable the county government improve the residents’ standards of living.
The governor, who was Speaking on Thursday at Thika town in a development tour with officials from the authority, said the county government has prioritised infrastructure development in its economic growth plans.
“With proper road network, business empires will thrive and living standards of residents will improve,” said Kabogo.
He said that most roads in Thika need urgent rehabilitation to facilitate smooth transportation of goods and urged the residents not to drag politics in the rehabilitation of roads.
“We don't want politics to be dragged in the rehabilitation of roads as this will derail its completion,” said Kabogo.
He said the work of rehabilitation should be left to professionals and not to politicians.
Kabogo also said that the county government has received Sh21 million from KRA for road maintenance.
