Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has pledged to spearhead construction of modern markets across the county in order to boost business development and encourage investment.
On Wednesday while addressing locals at Kimende trading center in Lari, Kabogo said his government plans to construct modern markets in all town centers in the county.
Kabogo stated that fund have been set aside adding that construction of markets will start soon.
The Kiambu governor stated that traders have a right to a better environment for business.
“We have set aside money that will be used to construct new modern markets and upgrade the existing ones,” said Governor Kabogo.
He stated that the county was concerned with poor state of markets across the county.
Kabogo also said that other infrastructure including roads and street lighting will be done to encourage a 24 hour business economy.
While acknowledging the role of business people and small scale traders, the governor said that the county will put their interests fast.
He asked the county assembly to come up with policies that will protect the rights and welfare of traders.
Kabogo also asked traders to take advantage of the loans being issued out by the government to expand their businesses.
