According to Governor Kabogo, the Senate Public Accounts and Investment Committee report on county audit queries is malicious and politically motivated.

Addressing locals at Kiambu Town on Sunday, Kabogo said that his government has not misused any public funds as the senate committee claims.

“The Senate Accounts committee should stop playing politics and do its work objectively without malice and witch-hunt,” he said.

The Kiambu governor alleged that the committee is being used by some in certain quarters to tarnish the image of some governors ahead of the August 8 general election.

Kabogo questioned the timing of the report claiming that it is malicious and in bad faith.

Governor Kabogo said that his government has adhered to all financial and procurement regulations for the last four years.

He asked the Kisumu Senator Professor Anyang Nyong’o-led committee to provide evidence that his government has misappropriated county public funds and contravened procurement and employment regulations.

Last week the senate Public Accounts Committee recommended arrest and prosecution of eight governors over alleged misappropriation of public funds.

The committee claimed that eight governors among them Kabogo could not account for some public funds allocated to them by the National government.

The report claimed that Kabogo’s government had flouted employment regulations and that his government has 95 per cent of employees from one tribe which is against the law.

Among the governors the Senate recommends for prosecution are Sospeter Ojaamong (Busia), William Kabogo (Kiambu), Patrick Khaemba (Trans-Nzoia), Salim Mvurya (Kwale), Jack Ranguma (Kisumu), Okoth Obado (Migori), Moses Lenolkulal (Samburu) and Daniel Waithaka (Nyandarua).
