Governor William Kabogo has called Kiambu County ward reps to approve a Sh5 million disbursement to assist Thika’s Joy Town School for the Physically Challenged.
The money is to help clear an accrued water bill and rehabilitate a borehole the school has been relying on for water.
Speaking from his office this morning, Kabogo said he had received a letter asking for assistance.
“I have to help them but we also have to follow the necessary procedures to avoid being faulted for misappropriation of public funds. We are ready to help the children get their water connected again as they are ours too,” Kabogo said.
He called on the MCAs, who are on recess, to ensure they address the issues considering that the school has been among the best countrywide.
Kabogo has said that the children will also be supported get another greenhouse as the agriculture department had earlier given one to them.
“If the one we gave them has been useful, then we will give another so they can produce more food for the children,” he added.
He insisted that has aim is to ensure food and water are not a problem to the school anymore.
According to Kiambu County secretary Fredrick Kitema, the county has sponsored over 35 students in the institution and they are doing all they can to ensure the comfort of the children in the institution.
