Mukiriti market traders in Thika have every reason to smile after the county government announced release of Sh 2.7 million on its renovation. Speaking during Kiambu County departments’ stakeholders meeting held at the county government offices in Thika, Governor William Kabogo said renovations in markets will help improve quality of trade. Kabogo observed that Mukiriti market is worst of all where paths are impassable due to heavy rains. “We have allocated Mukiriti market Sh 2.7 million to help renovate it. The market is disorganised and buyers opt to move all the way to Makoneni to trade,” said Kabogo. He however faulted traders for taking strikes as a way of solving conflicts, saying that traders should always address their issues through the finance office in the county. “It has come to my notice that traders are even paid by some leaders in the national government to go on strike in an effort to tarnish the reputation of my government. It is my humble request to all traders to use the finance office in solving conflicts, “added Kabogo. He said levies’ collection will continue in all towns in Kiambu and will be put in useful development of the county.
