Kiambu governor William Kabogo has urged locals to reject Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu's gubernatorial candidature during the forthcoming polls.

Speaking on Friday at Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology in Kiambu town, the outspoken county chief accused Waititu of resorting to propaganda in a bid to win Kiambu residents' support.

He further claimed that Waititu was only keen to share political slots with his allies at the expense of the citizenry.

“For the last four years, I’ve worked for you and put aside politics. The only thing my competitors are focused on is to gain power and how to share positions — this will bring Kiambu down,” he said.

He affirmed his support for the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta, adding that he will not relent from backing the Head of State despite vying as an independent candidate.

“I support Uhuru and let people not come here and lie to you that independent candidates should not be elected as they were fighting the President. There is no instrument for measuring who supports Uhuru more than the other. There’s no compromise on supporting the President. But for the other seats, let voters decide. I assure you God will work wonders,” he said.
