Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has urged county leaders to stop ‘petty’ politics and work towards progressive development.
Speaking at Ndumberi Grounds in Kiambu to mark the country’s 52nd Madaraka Day on Monday, Kabogo asked leaders to shun selfish politics and work for the people.
The governor said that continued politics has affected realisation of development in Kiambu and is also tainting the county’s image.
Kabogo said that despite the political differences among leaders, their ideologies should not divide the public.
He said that the county’s development record will go down if leaders continue to engage in divisive politics.
“I urge Kiambu leaders to stop ‘petty’ politics and partner with the government towards promoting the lives of Kiambu people. We all have our differences but the same should not cause division among the people,” said Kabogo.
Governor Kabogo said his government will welcome ideas that will promote development. He said that his government is keen to realize the development promises for the sake of improving the living standards of the people.
At the same time, Kabogo asked residents to embrace unity and peace. He said that unity and peace in the county will be a platform for development realisation. He added that the county is keen to ensure that Kiambu people are united and live in peace.
Deputy Governor Gerald Githinji said that the county has scaled up its efforts to promote development.
He said the county has allocated more funds to development in the next financial year that will see various projects completed on time.
