Despite losing his Kiambu seat, Governor Gitau Kabogo is tipped to replace President Uhuru’s Kenyatta’s Central Kenya voting base, argues Gideon Mamboleo.
The former Juja MP lost to Ferdinand Waititu in governorship barely four months after losing to him in Jubilee primaries.
And Mamboleo says Kabogo’s financial muscles and ability to mobilize people would enable him to bounce back before Uhuru leaves office in 2022.
“He has made it clear that William Ruto is not guaranteed Central Kenya votes. He only toned down for election to end and you will see fire burning,” he says.
Mamboleo adds: “H is wealthy and commands a following. His loss in Kiambu will not affect him at all and we shall live to see that.”
Kenyatta will be retiring in 2022 and for decades, the Central Kenya community has been having succession leaders whom they bank on.
During Jubilee nominations, Kabogo blamed Ruto for his loss and vowed to team him a lesson in post 2017 elections.
