Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has told off Deputy President William Ruto with his job offer if he agrees to step down for Kiambu Jubilee gubernatorial candidate, Ferdinand Waititu.

Kabogo has said he has not asked Ruto for a job but he 'appreciates that Ruto thinks of him highly and that he deserves a job.'

Ruto made the statement during the Jubilee party campaign tour in Kiambu County two weeks ago.

"It was an interesting statement by the DP because he seems to want to offer a job. But thank you, I haven't asked for a job. But I am glad he thinks that way and that I am a good friend of him so that those rumouring that I am fighting him can have something else to say," said Kabogo during Citizen's JKL show on Wednesday.

Kabogo also reiterated that Mt Kenya's support for Ruto in 2022 is not automatic.

"It is not automatic to get Mt Kenya support because someone said you will get it. You've got to work for it. You have to convince us by your work that you are the best and I will support. It will always be my stand. And even him (Ruto) admitted that what I said then and that is what am repeating now, is the truth. So, let those who have been using that statement to fight me get themselves busy with other things," he added.

Asked on whether he thinks Ruto was behind his dismal performance during the April Jubilee party primaries where he lost to rival Waititu, he said he believes so.

"What you hear from people is that he was involved in running the Jubilee primaries. He should take blame for what happened. If I'm in charge of something, I should be responsible for it, just the way as the Kiambu governor am called to Senate to bear the responsibility for my actions.

"Whatever happened in Jubilee nominations squarely lies in his hands as he was in charge of day-to-day happenings at the Jubilee headquarters," the governor who is running as an independent candidate said.
