Nakuru County Deputy Governor Joseph Rutto has called on Kiambu Governor William Kabogo to make a public apology over his recent remarks that the Mount Kenya region will not support William Ruto in 2022 saying that they risk polarising the country.
Speaking at Molo secondary school on Thursday during celebrations to mark the African Child Day, the DG termed the sentiments as unfortunate and irresponsible from a leader of Kabogo's caliber.
"Kabogo should give us a breathing space for once. We are tired of individuals always uttering inciting sentiments because when the worst happens, it's children and women that suffer most," he said.
According to Rutto, the country is committed to peace and reconciliation ahead of the 2017 polls and irresponsible utterances should not be tolerated.
"At the moment, let us deal with ensuring peaceful co-existance across the county, not politicking all the time. Let's cross the bridge when we reach there," Rutto said.
