Governor William Kabogo has unveiled state of the art armoured vehicles which he will be using for campaigns in his re-election bid.
On Wednesday Kabogo displayed the armoured vehicles during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tour of the county.The state of the art machines include A Light Multirole Vehicle (LMV IVECO), a 4WD Tactical Vehicle developed by Italian Industrial Vehicle Manufacture.Motor Vehicle experts say that the LMV IVECO approximately costs Sh29 million.Kiambu locals have already nicknamed the IVECO LMV “Githong’a" which translates to ugly.Sources say that Kabogo has also imported several Hummer H3 vehicles which approximately costs Sh4.8 Million each.The flamboyant governor is keen to retain his seat in the August 8 polls.He has dismissed competitors eyeing to unseat him saying that they have no agenda for Kiambu and are only interested in the county money.Kabogo says that his administration has performed to deserve re-election.A recent survey by Trends Insights for Africa (TIFA) showed that Kabogo enjoys 45 per cent of support compared to 33 per cent of his rival Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu.The Kiambu governor has been on a meet the people tour for the last six months in efforts to woo locals to support his re-election bid.
