Kiambu County Governor, William Kabogo, has called on the area youth to respect their elders and mostly their mothers.
Kabogo said that he has led by example as he has always prioritised his mother and wife in dealing with family matters.
“Women should be honored for the hard task they undertake in our homes and even in the corporate world,” said Kabogo.
He added that he has also equalised the ratio of men to women in his government as a way of showing concerns and respect.
“If you look at my government you will realise that the number of women is almost equal to the number of men. I respect women,” says Kabogo.
Speaking in Ruiru when he disbursed bursary funds to the needy students, Kabogo hailed women for being majority in the group which had gathered to pick bursaries for their kids.
He called on the men who have neglected their wives and mothers in poverty to consider supporting them.
Kabogo said that most of the men have absconded their duties in their families and the women are struggling to feed the families alone.
