Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has urged youth in the county to shun criminal activities and participate in development.
Kabogo said that engaging in crime is not the solution to the problems facing the youth.
Speaking at Nachu grounds on Sunday after a football tournament organised by Nachu MCA David Waiuhumbu in Kikuyu Sub-County on Sunday, Kabogo noted that some youth were wasting their lives by engaging in criminal activities instead of working with their leaders on development.
“Young people should stop engaging in criminal activities and instead support the development programmes being initiated in their respective areas,” said Kabogo.
Governor Kabogo said that young people have a big role to play towards development and that crime will only hinder their potential.
The Kiambu governor stated that his government has taken various initiatives aimed at empowering young people.
He appealed to youth to apply for development funds being issued by the county and start businessed instead of engaging in criminal activities.
Kabogo indicated that Kiambu will register enormous development if young people support development.
“It is time young people came out and worked with us leaders towards promoting development,” he said.
Kabogo promised to address the challenges facing the youths especially unemployment.
Kiambu County Youth and Sports CeC Machel Waikenda urged young people to participate in activities the county is initiating.
Waikenda said that his department has initiated various sports activities which he sated are aimed at empowering young people towards development and talent growth.
