Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo has called on the county youths to join National Youth Service (NYS) and community social development organisations to help tame crime and substance abuse

Kabogo said that NYS is recruiting youths and they should get involved with the community development to eradicate idleness which later results to crime and drug abuse.

The governor further urged the youth to join Red Cross and other volunteer works which he believes will have an impact in their lives in future and also help in achieving vision 2030.

“Try and join community services like red cross that will help keep your mind busy or just get involved in social and volunteer work in the organisations,” said Kabogo.

The county boss was speaking in Thika township Ward on Friday during a graduation ceremony. At least 197students graduated with Information Communication Technology (ICT).

Kabogo said that Kiambu County is moving towards digital era with Kiambu family graduating into ICT specialist and with the recent launching of Digitika card.

The governor revealed that plans are underway in establishing local programs which will be like a youth club to empower women and the children who are vulnerable in the society and gain specialties in ICT.

He further warned residents and youth to focus on education making it a priority promising them that Kiambu County will never let talents and knowledge of youths go to waste.

He said that unemployment is the major concern not only in Kiambu but the entire nation thus youth should venture into business or join social works to gain experience which will be useful in their lives.
