Since the entry of Ferdinand Waititu in Kiambu politics as Kabete Constituency MP, Kiambu County residents have witnessed more political fireworks than they had seen before.
Waititu and the Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo have been embroiled in an endless political fight which residents now think have short-changed development.
From accusations to counter accusations of Kabogo's alleged drug dealings to Waititu's 'fake' degree certificate, the two heavyweight politicians are not about to end the circus.
In the streets, residents believe a third formidable force would easily subdue Kabogo and Waititu to become the next governor for the following reasons: Endless politicking: Many residents we have talked to say that the two leaders have forgotten why they were elected and theirs is to look for every available platform to attack each other.
From funerals to churches, fundraisers to public barazas the list is endless.
Alleged existence of militias: Kabogo has been accused of having his own militia that was even accused of burning Madaraka market in Makongeni. Waititu on the other hand is said to have his own 'Waititu thugs'.
These groups, many believe, are a potential threat to Kiambu peace and would want to avoid the two leaders as plague.
Arrogance: The two have come to believe that they rightfully deserve the residents' votes. An alternative voice of reason would deal a blow to them.
Divisiveness: Kabogo and Waititu have been banking on the two to rally Kiambu voters behind them. Waititu has managed to rally almost all the MPs in the county behind him while Kabogo has managed to bag many MCAs in the county.
Residents say they would want a leader that would unite Kiambu for good.
