Speaking when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Finance and Accounts on Thursday, Kabogo said that Wamatangi was using his position as a member of the public accounts committee to intimidate him.

He claimed that audit queries presented by Wamatangi to the senate committee were politically motivated.

The Governor accused Wamatangi of using journalists to publish untrue reports in the media.

He claimed that he had an SMS from a journalist allegedly authored by Wamatangi aimed at tarnishing the county government.

“As we sit here I have an SMS from a journalist authored by Wamatangi that the Kiambu government is licensing production of illicit alcohol,” he claimed.

Wamatangi dismissed Kabogo’s allegations saying that he represents the interests of Kiambu people in the senate.

“I have a duty to question on how the Kiambu government is using public money allocated for it,” he said.

Wamatangi said that he works for the people saying that he is not interested in smear politics. Kabogo was appearing before the senate committee on public accounts to answer to audit queries.

According to the senate committee, Kiambu government could not account for Sh26 million imprests issued to employees during the 2014-2015 Financial Year.

Kabogo defended the county government saying that the money has since been recovered. He has been evading the senate committee since 2014 to answer to audit queries.
