Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has called on the Commission for Revenue Allocation (CRA) to increase allocations to the county for the financial year 2015/16.
The reason for this is ‘rapid’ population increase.
Kabogo says that the commission should do the same to all the counties as per the governor’s council proposal to be given funds according to the population of the counties.
Speaking when he met the CRA and other stakeholders of revenue sharing between the county and national governments during a consultative meeting on Tuesday, Kabogo said that most of the services in the counties are not to the standard as the funds are insufficient considering the rising populations.
He added that Kiambu is one of the densely populated counties in the country and there is need to consider increasing the funds in the next financial year so as it may be easier for his leadership to deliver its manifesto and mandate to the public.
The county boss said that he has proper use of the allocated kitty this financial year and can account for it if need be but he will not allow anyone to politick and discriminate him summoning him to explain his expenditure.
“Every resident of Kiambu can testify that Kabogo has used the money given to him by the government properly as they can see development projects being initiated each day. It is not necessary for me to explain to anyone what is visible to everyone. I need more money to continue with my work,” Kabogo insisted.
The governor has called on residents to remain calm as he works to improve on their living standards.
