Kiambu Governor William Kabogo wants legal action taken against Cord leaders who he has accused of inciting supporters to violence through the anti-IEBC protests.
Kabogo while speaking at Kamwangi trading center in Gatundu North on Wednesday where he had launched a Banana Tissue Culture programme said that Cord is keen to cause violence in the country.
The Governor said that the chaotic protests in Nairobi, Machakos ad Kisumu shows that Cord is inciting supporters.
“These people should be arrested and charges of incitement and disturbance of peace filed against them,” he said.
The Kiambu governor accused the opposition leaders of contravening the constitution.
“As much as they have a right to hold demonstrations, they are not allowed to incite or support violence,” said Governor Kabogo.
The Governor also lashed out at the opposition accusing them of wanting to grab power by force.
He said that the move by Cord leaders not to use the constitution in their quest to disband IEBC shows that they have ill motives.
Kabogo said that the Jubilee government will not be intimidated by the opposition.
The Kiambu Governor said that agitation for violent protests will only plug the country into conflict.
On Monday cord protests at Anniversary towers turned chaotic as anti-riot police engaged protesters in running battles.
The opposition leaders led by Raila Odinga say that they will continue to hold the protests every Monday despite calls from a section of church leaders for them to drop the protests.
