Kiambu governor William Kabogo has warned Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu against smear and propaganda campaigns.
Kabogo wants Waititu to engage locals on issue based campaigns instead of propaganda.
Waititu is seeking to unseat the governor on August 8. He beat Kabogo in the Jubilee nominations.
Speaking in Kiambu on Saturday, Kabogo, who is vying as an independent candidate, said that he will not allow Waititu or any other politician to spread propaganda and malicious information aimed at damaging his character.
The governor believes he was a victim of malicious propaganda in the recently concluded Jubilee party nominations and will not allow the same to block his re-election bid.
“I want to make it clear to my rivals that I will not take lightly any malicious propaganda aimed at tarnishing my image and that of my family,” he said as quoted by The Star.
He urged aspirants eyeing seats to preach peace and unity in their campaigns.
He said that chaotic and divisive campaigns will create anxiety and tension among locals.
