Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has urged investors who want to build rental premises in the county to use the right protocols or else they will lose their investments.

This is if their buildings fail the required standards.

Kabogo said this from his office on Wednesday following the tragedy of a building that collapsed in Huruma estate of Nairobi County late last week.

Kabogo said that Kiambu County is a corruption free county and his government will flatten all buildings that do not meet the standards of county buildings.

“All people should use the right and set structures by the county government. We will bring down any building that fails the standards regardless of your rank or political position,” Kabogo stated.

Kabogo added that it is very discouraging to find investors putting the lives of innocent civilians at risk.

He said that if the investors themselves know that the buildings are safe they would also be willing to live in the said houses.

The governor said that the county government will start a crackdown all over the county to check on the standards of the buildings. He also asked the residents to cooperate with the county government when the crackdown starts.

“When you are requested to move from a house by the county officials, please do so for your own safety. We are very concerned with the safety of the residents,” Kabogo said.
