Governor William Kabogo will still lose in the August 8 polls even if he contests for the top seat as an independent candidate, Political analyst Barrack Muluka has said.

Muluka says that Kabogo’s political fate was sealed the moment he was defeated by his rival Ferdinand Waititu in the Jubilee nominations two weeks ago.

“Kabogo and other big names that were floored in the recently concluded nominations should forget about running as independent candidates because they will still lose in the August general election,” he said.

Muluka said that the fall of big names in the recently concluded primaries should worry the political class going forward.

“Kenyans are tired with leaders who perpetuate their own interests at the expense of delivering services,” he said during an interview on Citizen TV on Wednesday.

Governor Kabogo lost the gubernatorial ticket in the JP nominations to Waititu.

Sources say that Kabogo is contemplating running independently. Last week the flamboyant governor said that he was under pressure from supporters to contest as an independent candidate.

Peter Ngure, a Kiambu based political analyst, however, observes that it will be difficult to write off Kabogo in politics.

Ngure notes that Kabogo can make a come-back in regards to the 2022 succession politics.
