Disdain and displeasure in Kiambu Governor William Kabogo continue growing as the disconnect between him and the electorate increases.

Kabogo is, as has been, accused of being too arrogant, out of touch with reality and being too late to initiate any long lasting development projects. In addition, those criticising his leadership feel he has not offered any tangible reasons why the county, which has received billions from Treasury, has recorded no ‘visible’ development.

On Facebook, and from people like Waime Mburu and Mwangi Muthiora, the discontent is growing as the parties continue criticising the governor over his style of leadership. Mostly, it has been read and translated to Kabogo being dictatorial with no room for opposing opinions neither positive critricism.

But the biggest issue has been the issuance of bursaries which the governor has allegedly ‘sat on’ for several months so he could issue them closer to the elections as a means to getting votes in 2017.

In one post from ‎Nitwarie Cia Kiambu‎ for instance, the issuance of cheques has been associated with wastefulness and disrespect for the Kiambu electorate.

The post reads, “This is the cheque that one Jenny got from the governor in the much hyped bursaries disbursement in the wards.

This is what she had to say:

"Nili'apply bursary ya mtoto last year. Nikakaa nikiulizanga kwani hazitoki lakini naambiwa tu ningoje. Sasa juzi nilipata afueni nilipopashwa habari kuwa gavana analeta bursaries. Moyoni nilijua at least kamzigo kamepungukapunguka kiasi manake nitapewa bursary. Sasa gavana alikuja lakini imagine hii ndio nilipata!"

She was handed the cheque worth Sh1,875.

“What angered her the most is the amount of time that the cheque took before it was delivered. To add insult to injury, the money she got was a pittance!

In her words, she said

"Hiyo siku ya kupewa bursary ilibidi nisiende kazini, nikashinda kwa jua tu nikingoja elfu moja na mashilingi!!! Just imagine sasa hii cheque nafaa nipeleke Mwingi. Na gavana naskianga kila mahali aendapo anasema tu ako na pesa. Mimi haki nimeudhika!"

Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa was allegedly notified of Jenny's woes by one Willy Kay D H.

“Mhesh told Willy to take Jenny to his office. As we speak now, the school fee balance has been cleared thanks to Him Ichung'wah.”

The post continues asking the governor whether it is prudent to go round in a convoy of high class vehicles to give out small change. The writer proposes that Kabogo can use two cars to the wards and at least use the money for fuel to increase the bursary allocations.

So all those photos that were been displayed by PR mwitu were of people that were been taken for a ride!

Allegedly, “Ile kelele iko mashinani ju ya izo cheques si kidogo! Watu wanasema wamechoka na madharau! Kuna mtu hawatacheka na yeye next year! Atajiju!” The post concludes.
