Nduta, speaking at Thika Stadium during a women training forum dubbed 'Unveiling Her Star', said that many women are missing on several opportunities for fear of venturing in various male-dominated jobs.

"There are several opportunities in for example plumbing, painting, roofing, construction, carpentry yet you will find few or no women in these activities," said Nduta on Tuesday.

"This is why we want to have a support and empowerment programme where we are going to train about 1,500 women in the ages between 16-65 years at the Kiambu Institute of Technology," she added.

Kiambu Chief Officer in charge of Youths and Sports Marie Mugo who had accompanied the Kiambu First Lady, said that the 1,500 women will be allowed to choose courses they prefer after which they will be trained for in both theories and practicals.

"The training will open various opportunities for these women because we will hold their hands and help them reach the next level," Mugo said.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed joy and optimism that the programme was going to help them make a financial breakthrough.

"I am happy as I will no longer have to depend on my husband for financial support. I am hopeful that everything is going to work as planned," said Julia Wanjiku, a beneficiary.
