Rev Henry Akonde Ogallo is the new Kabonyo Council of Elders chairperson.

He was elected in ceremony held on Friday at Withur Secondary School in Kanyagwal ward in Nyando sub county.

He has for the last one year held the same position on an acting capacity.

Reverend Akonde hails from the Kamnget sub clan in Nyando.

He was elected to the position in a poll overseen by Kano Council of Elders chairperson Zablon Okoko, Nyando MP Fred Outa, Kisumu governor aspirant Dr Hezron Mc'Obewa and Kisumu Women Rep aspirant Rosa Buyu.

The new chair will be deputized by Bernard Ogutu.

Kabonyo has five sub clans namely Kamnget, Kapiyo, Kokal, Kadhiambo and Kwa Kungu.
