Speaking at Kijabe today, Kahangara said the road is filled with potholes and is a nightmare for motorists and other road users. Kahangara added that poor state of the road has denied the area development opportunities. The MP said that business at Kijabe trading center has been slowed down because of poor road networks.

“We appeal to the Kiambu county government and national road authorities to help us repair this road (Kijabe-Maai Mahiu-Nairobi),” he said.

The MP noted that the road connects to most parts of Lari and that residents mostly businessmen are finding it hard to operate their activities smoothly.

Kahangara said that he has complained to the Kiambu government to have the road networks repaired to no avail. The MP observed that poor state of roads in the constituency have embarrassed him and seen the people suffer.

The lawmaker intimated that repairing roads will open the area in terms of development.

“Infrastructure development is the platform for socio-economic development, our economy will go up if our roads are in good shape,” he added.

The MP also urged the Kenya Highways Authority (KeNHA) to construct foot bridges in a bid to curb accidents.

He observed pedestrian accidents are on the rise especially at Kimende trading center.
