Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi has told The Education and Quality Assurance Council to ensure that education standards in Kenya are not compromised.

In a speech read by Egerton University Vice Chancellor Prof James Tuitoek, Kaimenyi said that the council must ensure that all basic education institutions within the country are registered but only after meeting the basic requirement which have been documented in detail and in the public domain.

He was speaking in Nakuru Town where council members led by chairman Kiragu wa Magochi were being inducted. He added that the council must take up the role of quality assessment by enforcing strict policies on education.

Quality Assurance and Standards in education is a prime function of the Directorate of Quality Assurance and standards which is the main professional arm of the Ministry of Education.

The body’s’ main functions include Special needs education, Non- Formal Education, Teachers Education special programs among other functions.
