Speaking when he commissioned newly constructed roads in Ruiru on Friday, Kaimenyi said that the move to dissolve land boards was meant to curb widespread corruption.

On Thursday last week, Kaimenyi through a gazette notice dissolved all land boards in the country.

The CS said that the boards will be reconstituted afresh in the next two weeks.

“It was necessary to have all the boards’ dissolved as one way of curbing the widespread corruption,” he said.

The CS added that some board members had overstayed in their positions for over three years. He said that the new board members will be appointed on a three-year non-renewable contract.

“We want to bring in new people who will spearhead land reforms,” he said.

On the same note, Kaimenyi urged county governments to work with national government to address land matters in their respective counties.

The CS said the ministry was committed to resolve all land matters.

Kaimenyi also put on notice grabbers of public land. He said the ministry was working closely with the National Lands Commission (NLC) to ensure that no public land is grabbed.

Kiambu governor William Kabogo asked the Lands ministry to move with haste and address land issues in the county. Kabogo said that Kiambu is among counties with high unresolved land matters.
