The government has started a programme to ensure all lands belonging to schools, are not grabbed.Lands Cabinet Secretary Prof Jacob Kaimenyi has indicated that the frequently experienced cases of grabbing of school lands, will soon be forgotten.
He accused wealthy people, and private developers, in the country, saying they had greatly contributed to grabbing of public land.Speaking when issuing tittle deeds to various schools in Uasin Gishu County, the CS further took a swipe at locals who donate lands to schools, only to claim for compensation, years later.He said this is usually experienced when the value of same lands, appreciate. Kaimenyi warned that the Ministry will not compensate such people, since they donated the lands in good will.
"You gave the land to school as a community, in good will. Why claim for compensation when it appreciates? No, it is not acceptable,'' said the CS, Friday.
