Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku has offered county chiefs a three month extension despite several governors from various parts of the country removing officials from their current positions.
The move will allow the officers to retain their seats until November 30.
“We are one county and one people and we can’t afford to bring the county operations to a halt all of a sudden. We are going to advertise for those positions and as the process continues this will be done in line with the recruitment law,” he said as reported by The Star.
Government spokesperson Eric Kiraithe lambasted the act by governors sacking officials based on their association with different political parties.
Ole Lenku has also expressed his eagerness to carry out development in the county and serve the people of Kajiado.
“We are going to work within the laws, policies and regulations, hence we want to do the budget and understand the law quickly and get moving with serving the great people of Kajiado, the county governments’ acts are key,” said the governor.
