Homabay senator Otieno Kajwang was the biggest loser in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tour to the Lakeside County.
Prior to the tour, Kajwang had warned that locals could not allow DP William Ruto to step in the county perceived to be an opposition stronghold.
But a defiant Ruto accompanied Kenyatta and addressed a series of rallies in Nyanza among them a mega rally at Mbita constituency, the home turf of Kajwang.
“There is a guy who told me that I am not allowed to step in Homabay. I am yet to see him around and when you see him, remind him that I was around,” Ruto said in a sarcastic tone.
He added: “We cannot be threatened all the time and people should know that we are living in a free country.”
However at Kisumu, Ruto endured difficult times when was periodically booed by angry locals forcing him to cut short his speech.
A section of rowdy youths threw stones at the presidential motorcade forcing security officers to intervene to calm the situation.
