Outspoken Ruaraka lawmaker T.J Kajwang will after all battle it out with nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro in ODM primaries to ascertain whether he will be in 12th parliament.
Fresh from claims that she had ditched ODM party, Ongoro dismissed the reports on Wednesday and accused her rival of working with Orange House officials to block her bid.
She had been barred by disciplinary committee from running in Ruraka and given option of going for Nairobi Senate or Women Representative seats having been found culpable of ‘triggering’ violence that saw two people dead.
“I have been away from the country and I am shocked to hear people saying that I left ODM. I will be on ballot whether they like it or not,” said Ongoro after a scuffle at the ODM headquarters.
She added: “We must have primaries and the people of Ruaraka shall decide. I have sacrificed a lot for the party but some cartels are busy wrecking us.”
Understandably, the two leaders later met ODM leader Raila Odinga and it is said that he prevailed upon the NEB that subsequently included Ongoro’s name in the Ruaraka race.
In 2013, she bolted out of the Senate race in what was seen as a measure to balance aspirants regionally in the cosmopolitan town.
