Kakamega County Hospital boss, Titus Mumia, was on Monday charged with incitement to violence after he allegedly uttered incitement words that led to an attack on a Royal media journalist, Kefa Juma.

According to Citizen Digital, Mumia said, “You bogus and useless journalists this is not a political zone.” An incident that purportedly provoked county askaris to assault Juma.

The askaris descended on the journalist with kicks and blows leaving him hospitalised.

The Mulembe FM and Radio Citizen FM reporter was treated and discharged.

Juma was doing a story on the plight of patients at the county hospital following the ongoing nurses' strike across the country.

However, appearing before a Kakamega court, Mumia pleaded not guilty to the charges and was freed on a cash bond of Sh60,000.

The case will be mentioned on July 24 with the hearing slated for September 6, 2017.
