Residents of Kakamega town were treated to drama on Saturday after a man working at the county government collapsed after eating three plates of githeri.
Githeri is a popular meal in Central Kenya and is a mixture of boiled maize and beans.
The man only identified as Mark is said to have gone to a restaurant and ordered for the meal which, was promptly served.
He downed the first plate before ordering the second one.
But to the bemusement of the waitresses, the man successfully cleared the spiced meal before ordering for the third plate which, he again wiped out.
Drama, however, unfolded when he rose to pay the bill. He collapsed at the counter calling out for help.
The waitresses and the owner of the hotel intervened by powering cold water on the man who at the time was pleading to be given a glass of water.
He, after two minutes rose, cleared the bill and left for home.
The owner of the hotel Hilda Shiveka said the man is her longtime customer.
It is not yet whether the man collapsed because of over satisfaction or he was sick.
