Kakamega High School’s Green Commandos have marched into the quarters of the ongoing Brookside East Africa Secondary Schools games boys' football in Gulu, Uganda.

After beating Ugandan champions Jinja SS 2-1 in their opening match, the Green Commandos booked a slot in the final with a 1-0 win over Tanzania's Alliance Rock.

They therefore become the first side to reach knockout stage in Group C.

Chris Alpha Onyango was the scorer of the all-important goal in the 35th minute of action.

According to Kakamega coach Brendan Mwinamo, his charges are yet to give their best and their subsequent matches are expected to present them with the opportunity to showcase what they have.

“We should have won convincingly because we dominated the match. Nevertheless, I’m glad we have achieved our first target of advancing to the knockout stage,” Mwinamo said.
