A section of traders operating in Kakamega near the main bus terminus are counting losses after fire burnt down several kiosks including an eatery and a workshop on Tuesday morning. The fire which is suspected to have been caused by an electoral fault is said to have started from one of the kiosks. The business people who were affected by the inferno blamed the fire fighters from the county government for delaying to respond quickly to the incident.Despite fire engines from the county arriving two hours after the incident, Kakamega Division Police Chief Bernstein Shari said the engines had no water.“Firefighting engines from the county government arrived at the scene without water making it difficult to contain the inferno before it could spread further,” said Shari. The traders have called on governor Wycliffe Oparanya to equip the fire fighters with modern equipment in order for them to respond to fire outbreaks quickly.
