[Photo| Courtesy]Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has said Kakamega County’s Bukhungu Stadium will host the opening ceremony of the forthcoming CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup. “The main venues remain Bukhungu in Kakamega and Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos with Mumias Sports Complex and the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani acting as backups," FKF president Nick Mwendwa said in a press conference at the Utalii Colloge in Nairobi. FKF also noted that Kisumu County could still host some of the competition matches despite a shift of Group A matches from the lakeside city to Machakos.“We are still in discussions to see how Kisumu can host some of the matches, and we will announce the way forward once everything has been concluded,” Mwendwa noted. Zimbabwe's Football Association (ZIFA) withdrew from the tournament on Wednesday, citing insecurity arising from the current political situation in the country.
