The latest move by Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka to seek a renewed political unity with his former archrival Charity Ngilu and former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti is ‘a marriage of convenience’, former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile has claimed.
Addressing the press in Machakos town, Kalembe said it was too late for the leaders to purport to show political unity and yet they have been fighting amongst themselves at the expense of the Kamba community.
“These people should stop lying to the community that they are united and yet we know they were only forced by political circumstances to come together in order to secure their own selfish interests,” declared Kalembe.
On Tuesday, Kalonzo held a closed door meeting with Ngilu, Wavinya, Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, former Mwala MP Mutua Katuku and Mavoko MP Patrick Makau.
Ngilu and Wavinya are eying Kitui and Machakos gubernatorial seats respectively while Katuku is eyeing Machakos senatorial seat currently held by Johnstone Muthama.
Prof Kibwana signed a coalition agreement between his Muungano party and Kalonzo’s Wiper, raising speculations that the Makueni governor could be handed a direct ticket nomination to defend his seat on through Wiper.
Kalembe who last folded his TIP party to join JP expressed confidence that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto will earn more votes in Ukambani than the opposition coalition.
