Former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to hold dialogue with NASA in a bid to discuss their electoral reforms agenda.Speaking to journalists in Mavoko Town on Sunday, Ndile said the reforms agenda is acceptable so long it does not come with political conditions. He said Uhuru should embrace dialogue with NASA noting that the talks should not revolve around power-sharing deals.“I think President Kenyatta should give them (NASA) an ear if their agenda is only based on electoral reforms and nothing else like power sharing,” he said.Ndile said the country’s electoral system needs to be audited and reformed in order to avert a crisis in future elections.“The idea of reforms agenda is welcome and the opposition should genuinely push it using the right channels,” he said. The former MP who unsuccessfully contested for the Mavoko parliamentary seat in last year’s polls, however, took issue with NASA, accusing the Raila Odinga led Alliance of issuing baseless threats. He said that dialogue can never take place in a hostile environment.Ndile urged the opposition to call off Raila’s planned swearing-in set for January 30 and give the government time to create room for dialogue. He asked Kenyans to remain peaceful and shun politicians who thrive on threats and incitement.NASA plans to swear in Raila as the people’s president. Pressure is, however, mounting on the opposition to drop the swearing-in plan and seek dialogue.NASA principals, Raila Odinga Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula are set to hold a meeting today (Monday) to discuss critical issues facing the alliance.
