Former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile has advised President Uhuru Kenyatta to stop the ongoing crackdown on NASA politicians who were involved in Raila Odinga’s swearing-in as the people’s president.
Ndile argues that arresting, detaining and deporting NASA politicians is only making Raila Odinga more popular.He said the only way for Uhuru to deal with Raila and NASA is to keep silent and let them run their activities.“The government should stop arresting NASA politicians because it is only making Raila Odinga relevant politically,” he told reporters at the Machakos Law Courts on Wednesday.The former lawmaker who folded his TIP TIP party to merge with Jubilee in last year’s polls said Raila is gaining political mileage and sympathy from the arrests being made by the government over his swearing-in.Ndile, who unsuccessfully contested for the Mavoko parliamentary seat in last year's polls warned that the country will be more polarized, adding that careless arrests and detention without trial could plunge the country into uncertainty.The government is cracking down on NASA politicians who planned and administered Raila’s oath.Last week, the government arrested Ruaraka MP T.J Kajwang over his role in the swearing-in ceremony.Kajwang was later released on a Sh50,000 cash bail.And on Friday, self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) leader Miguna Miguna was arrested at his Runda home by police for administering Raila's oath.Miguna who spend five days in police cells was on Tuesday arraigned in a Kajiado court and charged with treason.The Canadian-based lawyer did not take plea asking the court to have him arraigned before Milimani High Court Judge Luka Kimaru.The tough-talking lawyer was deported to Canada aboard a KLM plane flying to Amsterdam. The government has vowed to continue the crackdown on NASA politicians who planned Raila’s oath ceremony.This comes as 10 NASA politicians moved to court on Tuesday to stop their possible arrest.The politicians were granted Sh100,000 anticipatory bail each.
